Overview

This course equips student representatives with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively represent their peers and contribute to positive change within their institution.

You will explore the role of the class representative, the importance of student voice, and how representation works within higher education structures. The course also covers key topics such as communication, feedback, student wellbeing, and effective participation in meetings such as Course Boards and Class Rep Councils.

By completing this course, you will develop the confidence to advocate for your classmates, engage constructively with staff, and enhance your leadership and communication skills.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the role and responsibilities of a class representative within higher education
  • Understand the importance of student voice and representation structures, including Course Boards and Class Rep Councils
  • Apply effective communication and feedback techniques to represent your peers constructively
  • Recognise the importance of wellbeing, professionalism and good practice when acting as a class representative
