Overview

This course supports students in developing practical financial skills to help manage money during college and beyond. It explores everyday financial challenges, including budgeting, spending, borrowing and managing financial risks.

Through a series of interactive sections, you will learn how to distinguish between needs and wants, plan and manage your finances, understand borrowing and long-term financial health, recognise financial risks and scams, and take steps to manage or reduce debt.

Money and financial decision-making can be challenging, particularly in the context of rising living costs. This course aims to build your confidence and equip you with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial choices now and into the future.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the difference between needs and wants and apply strategies for sustainable spending
  • Apply basic money management skills, including budgeting and planning your finances
  • Understand borrowing and long-term financial health, including the impact of financial decisions over time
  • Recognise financial risks and take steps to manage debt, including identifying scams and accessing support where needed
