Online Course: Teaching with XR: Designing and Delivering Immersive Learning Experiences (October 2026)
The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education are delighted to announce that the fully online Open Course Teaching with XR: Designing and Delivering Immersive Learning Experiences – Open Courses will run from 7th October 2026 to 20 November 2026.
This free 6-week course is available to all staff currently working in Higher Education, subject to availability of places.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain key concepts, pedagogical foundations, and affordances of XR in education.
- Evaluate and select XR tools for learning and assessment.
- Design a short XR-enhanced learning activity aligned with curriculum outcomes.
- Critically reflect on ethical, legal and social issues in immersive learning.
Learning Activities (Indicative Learner Commitment)
- Webinars: weeks 1, 4 & 6 (3.5 hours)
- Self-directed online content including reflective activities and independent research and exploration (8 hours)
- Preparation of XR Learning Experience Assessment (11 hours)
- Peer group activities (2.5 hours)
- Optional Facilitator training: Self-directed content, peer group activity (5 additional hours)
