Overview
This Open Course has been developed in conjunction with An Taisce to promote sustainability and to demonstrate how participants can contribute to a greener future, both in their personal lives and within their university campus communities. The course will also introduce participants to the many opportunities that An Taisce provides to deepen their understanding of sustainability, including exploring the Green-Campus Ireland framework and the roles of Climate Ambassador or Youth Reporter for the Environment.
You’ll Learn to
- Describe key principles of sustainability and explain how individual and community actions contribute to a greener future.
- Identify practical steps you can take in your personal life and on your university campus to support sustainable behaviours and environmental stewardship.
- Explore and evaluate the sustainability initiatives offered by An Taisce, including volunteering programmes.
- Apply sustainability concepts to propose or enhance an environmentally responsible activity, project, or campus initiative.
On earning your open badge award for this course, you will have achieved further recognition in the following domains of the National Professional Development Framework for Staff who Teach:
- Domain 1: The Self Focuses on the centrality of personal and professional values, self-awareness, and the individual identity the teacher brings to their practice.
- Domain 4: Professional Knowledge and Skills This domain focuses on ensuring learners are current in knowledge and able to apply effective, evidence-based practices.
