Overview
This course introduces key concepts related to gender-based violence (GBV) and explores how it affects students and campus communities. It aims to build awareness and understanding of GBV, including its causes, impacts, and the importance of prevention.
The course is structured across three sections, covering topics such as sex and gender, an introduction to gender-based violence, and actions to address GBV on campus. Through interactive learning materials, scenario-based activities and knowledge checks, you will develop the skills needed to recognise harmful behaviours and respond appropriately.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain key concepts related to sex, gender and gender-based violence, including definitions and types of GBV
- Recognise the causes, impacts and prevalence of GBV in campus and wider contexts
- Identify appropriate responses and supports, including how to seek help and support others
- Understand your role in preventing GBV, including promoting respectful behaviour and contributing to a safer campus
Course Developers
This course was developed by Munster Technological University (MTU) for the MTU N-TUTORR team.
